PENN Expands Digital Gaming Operations in Canada
PENN Entertainment has expanded its presence in Canada’s regulated online gaming sector with the launch of theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino, theScore Casino, and Hollywood Casino in Alberta.
The three applications are now available across the province on iOS, Android, and web platforms, extending PENN’s digital gaming footprint beyond Ontario and into Alberta’s newly regulated market for private online gaming operators.
The launch marks the next phase of growth for theScore Bet in Canada following its operations in Ontario. Alberta players can now access an integrated platform that combines sports news, live scores, statistics, and betting functionality through theScore ecosystem.
Alongside its sportsbook offering, theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino provides access to an online casino featuring hundreds of slot games, table games, live dealer content, and exclusive titles, including Blue Jays Blackjack.
PENN has also introduced standalone versions of Hollywood Casino and theScore Casino in Alberta. Hollywood Casino delivers a dedicated casino-first experience with a broad portfolio of slots, table games, and live dealer products, while theScore Casino offers a standalone online casino platform for players seeking a casino-only experience.
Commenting on the launch, Aaron LaBerge, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Interactive at PENN Entertainment, said:
“Alberta has an incredible sports culture, and we’re excited to bring theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino to players across the province.
Fans already know and trust theScore, and with theScore Bet, we’re extending that connection into a seamless sportsbook and casino experience. Whether you’re following your favorite team, placing a bet, or enjoying casino games, we’ve built the experience around the way fans naturally engage with sports. We commend the Alberta government for introducing a regulated online gaming market for private operators and look forward to serving fans in one of Canada’s great sports markets.”
The Alberta rollout also brings several sportsbook features to players, including Same Game Parlays, player proposition betting, live in-game wagering, and direct integration with theScore’s sports media platform.
To mark the launch, PENN will host a series of promotional fan experiences throughout the summer, including the return of its Toronto Blue Jays Jersey Swap event.
The expansion further strengthens PENN Entertainment’s digital gaming strategy in Canada, extending the reach of its proprietary sportsbook and iCasino technology platform while increasing access to its portfolio of sports betting and casino products across regulated provincial markets.
